Trauma torácico cerrado. Breves reflexiones

Objetivos: Recopilar información actualizada sobre el trauma torácico cerrado mediante una revisión bibliográfica de la literatura científica reciente. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica cualitativa mediante búsqueda en bases de datos Scielo y LILACS. Se incluyeron artículos científicos de los últimos cinco años (2020-2025) en idiomas español e inglés, centrados exclusivamente en trauma torácico cerrado. Se excluyeron otros tipos de trauma, tesis, libros, ponencias y textos anteriores al 2020. Resultados: El trauma torácico cerrado representa aproximadamente el 60% de todos los traumas torácicos en adultos, siendo más prevalente en hombres jóvenes. La mortalidad asociada varía entre 10% y 25%. Los mecanismos de lesión incluyen impactos directos e indirectos por fuerzas de aceleración/desaceleración. El diagnóstico se basa en historia clínica, examen físico y estudios de imagen, siendo la tomografía computarizada más sensible que la radiografía simple. El manejo varía desde tratamiento conservador hasta intervención quirúrgica según la gravedad.
