Objective: to determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders suffered by health personnel in the emergency area of the General Hospital Puyo - Ecuador. Methods: Descriptive observational study. Results: 67% of the workers presented painful discomfort in different regions of the body. Conclusion: The highest prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in health workers is at the level of the neck and shoulders. A considerable proportion of health care workers surveyed reported excessive working hours as a cause of musculoskeletal disorders. Also working as a doctor, nurse and nursing assistant mainly predisposes to a higher prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in health care workers.
